A collaboration with MaineGeezer

Post by Diane Kauffmds »

With help from MaineGeezer. AKA Steve Wellcome, I've motorized the marble run. Steve designed the gears for me in his CAD program. I cut them out on the CNC in rosewood. I'll probably replace the rosewood with acetal, which will be a better material.

I'm using a tiny (and I mean TINY), 12v, DC, 300 rpm motor. I soldered wires on it. Originally, I designed it to use 23A batteries, but they were depleted within 2 minutes of running the system. I thought maybe I had a bad battery, but I went through 3 batteries. I found an old 12V AC/DC adapter cord, so I cut the connector off and I'm using it. I'm running the system with a speed governor.
