Got some new toys
Had some extra cash so got myself some new toys from Lee Valley. I bought a few things but the main things are a precision straight edge (far more accurate then the cheap 24" ruler I've been using), a good square, a Japanese saw rasp for shaping necks and electric bodies, a Veritas mini block plane for shaping braces, and a new Veritas no 6 plane for shooting tops/backs and truing neck blanks. Can't wait to start my next guitar!

Sounds like you will be enjoying your new toys. I'd like to know how the mini plane works when you have it.

I tried out the no 6 plane on a piece of mahogany. Right out of the box with the factory fresh blade (no honing) I was able to get shavings .004" thick. Can't wait to sit down and hone the blade and get it all tuned up.

I've been using that plane for a couple years now Kevin and I LOVE it!Kevin Sjostrand wrote:Sounds like you will be enjoying your new toys. I'd like to know how the mini plane works when you have it.
