I'm thinking of building a Mandocello using a Martin 000 kit and a tenor neck, probably shaving down the Martin neck and putting Mandolin tuners on it. anyone who is interested in this project, has built one or has any suggestions, especially regarding extra strengthening for eighT strings please jump in.

Aside from making the bridge plate a little thicker, I doubt that you'd have to do anything else. But you might want to do some string tension calculations to be sure.

Um ...mandocello eh...hmmm truss rod eh....well
use a double action then and if concerned then lay in some of that carbon fiber stuff...Now if you still concerned then soak the neck in a 1 gal solution of water and 3 hits of viagra. That should stiffen the sucker up real good.

PS: Oh ya...for a really sweet neck....remember to slather some honey on the truss rood before closing her up, you know ~ to prevent "truss rod rattle" Ya, right!
