Question on tuning machine ratios

My acoustic guitar from a Stewmac kit, has tuners that seem to somewhat slowly bring the strings into tune.
Both my electrics will change string frequency quickly.
I don't know the mfg for any of them, but my question is, does someone make good tuning machines with a high ratio of say 18:1 or more? Are they really pricey?
I use an app for an Iphone - Istrobosoft from Peterson. The tuning can be in cents, which I use, frequency, or midi (I have no idea what the heck that is for). And that software is very exacting. As a result, especially with the electrics, I can barely turn the tuning key and it will change the tuning by 5 cents or so.
I find my Iphone tuner is way better than the other two I have, one of which is a Snark. And I really like it. But what I'd like more is to be able to sneak up on the tuning a bit. Instead of having to barely, barely touch the knob.
Any ideas? What seems to be a good ratio for doing it like I'd like?
I'll try to find out what type tuners from Stewmac, but that was 5 yrs ago or more.
Thanks,
Bob

Oh, John, I had no idea where to post this, but this section seemed as good as any. Feel free to move it if you think it needs it.

Good tuners are usually 14 to 1 or higher. I like the grovers , they are 18 to 1
The cheaper the tuner the less they hold and will slip

I pretty much use Grover for open back and Ping for enclosed.

Any brand name tuner should get the job done, I like Schaller but I don't like high ratio tuners.

I've been using Gotoh's, I think they are 16:1. No problems so far.
In the OLD days I would put Grovers on as replacements, they are very good too.
