John or anyone else, have you had a chance to look at the braces on an HD-35? The 35 series normally has 1/4", tapered bracing and the HDs normally have 5/16" scalloped bracing.........so I guess the HD-35 has 1/4", scalloped bracing? I would like to see a pic of that bracing.......curious how much it's scalloped etc.

On a D35 the braces are all 1/4 inch even the scalloped ones.

Did you check the bracing library at the UMGF ?

Spoke to Martin and the bracing is shaped the same as the HD 28 but 1/4 inch bracing.
It is all cut on the same machine

Some folks think the D-35s are typically louder than D-28 (1/4" bracing maybe???). My guess is that using narrower bracing that it is less likely a D-35 is overbuilt (just a guess). I've played some that sounded great......and a few that sounded ok but nothing special. That has been my experince with D-28s as well.
I've not played the new HD-35 but did listen to a YouTube video where a guy plays one and he bragged about the bass response.

I Played a 70's era D-35 a while back. To me it played more like a Gibson Jumbo. Kind of a smooth, strummy sort of sound. It didn't have near the projection of a typical D-28 or the like.
Of course all of this is subjective.

It means it is a 12 fret neck.

Yes, and recalling back, this one had some issues. Namely it needed a neck reset. The saddle was almost down to the bridge and the break angle was very low.
