It's not Black Acacia or Indian Rosewood but there is some light curl in it.

Too much glare in the pic for me to see the color or detail.

You guys are going to be so pissed off at me for pulling such a low down slimy trick on you!!!
Anybody recognize it now? Yes it is the exact same piece of wood!
What I did was ran a piece of purpleheart through the planer and then immediately took a picture of it and posted it. I then waited several days and then took another picture of it.
You may find it worth a funny, humiliating story. I had seen purpleheart before but had never worked with it. I ordered a few pieces for a project that I was going to work on and wnen I received it it was in pretty rough shape so I decided to run it through the planer, well after about the third or fourth pass (throigh the planer) I noticed that my beautifully colored purple heart was now the color of fecal brown. Boy was I pissed, I thought the company that I bought it from pulled a fast one on me. I thought that they had merely dyed some boring old wood, so I set it to the side for a few days while contemplating what to do. Well one day I was in the shop and I just happened to notice that my purpleheart was purple once again and then I realized that exposure to UV light changed it back to purple, I felt like such a big dummy but I laughted my @$$ off!!!
Posted both pictures so that you can compare.
