What's it called

I know this but my old mind with not function at present.

When the wood has a crack or stress fracture from wind when it was alive and it cracks when bending.

What is that condition called?

No, there's a term for the almost invisible type of stress in wood that has been twisted while it was still standing. When you bend it it invariably cracks.

Wind checking sounds more accurate to me. What I know about wood would not fill a thimble.

some areas will call that a wind break . Pitch Pockets are another area that is a internal flaw .
