I should've done this before I started posting in the main section - so here goes.
My name is Mike and I've been playing guitar for well over 30 years now. I've done a lot of my own repair and maintenance work on my own guitars and I've refinished a couple of solid-bodies. I have had the itch to build an acoustic guitar from scratch for a very long time now. I've been lurking here for awhile, joined in March and posted today for the first time. I bought Bill Cory's e-book a couple of days ago and started to dive into that. I am amazed at what I've seen so far on this site and don't know if I can ever come close, but it should be fun trying.
As a general comment, this is one of the friendliest, most helpful sites that I've seen and I always enjoy coming here.

Welcome crimsonlake, glad to see you on board, nice comment on this forum being friendly and helpful and I totally agree. From what little bit of KGF history I know, that was the original goal of KGF's founding father's and still remains the #1 objective. What are you thinking about building, OM, Dread, OOO?

Thanks David. I'm thinking of an OOO or an OM as I already have a dread.
The part that scares me the most is finishing. I plan do something that I NEVER do when it comes to building something... practice!

Finishing was also the operation that I was most apprehensive about, but by following the guidance of others I have found that it isn't so difficult and I am a lot more satisfied with the results than I expected. the key is not only prep but patience.

Welcome, Crimsonlake! I have become very attached to "OM"s,,,,My first was a Jumbo, which I love, but the OM size is just right. Good luck on your build, post lots of pictures, and don't hesitate to ask. We've all made enough mistakes that we can no doubt save you from some.
