If I was to click on the donate button and throw a couple of dollars at it, who would get the money and for what purpose would it be used, or is this an inapropriate question to ask? Please pardon my ignorance on how website/forums are operated. PM's may be apropriate here.

Re: Donate Button
David,
Thank you for asking about the donate button. Your donations go to my PayPal account (seanlarge at gmail) and go towards software updates and general software maintenance. It helps keep the board running smoothly and SPAM free.
Currently I am focused on eliminating SPAM accounts and making it harder for SPAM bots to register accounts to the forum as Jim Hall, John Hall and myself must read each message of newly register users to prevent the rest of the board from having to read it. I would like it if we did not have to read any of those messages too!
After we have a better SPAM solution, I would like to create an interface for streaming sound files so that it is easy to share audio files. This was a request of board members and seems as though it would make the forum a better place for sharing and learning. Another software request was to have the forum available to mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, Blackberries, etc. I know many people have mobile devices and many people would like to be able to check the forum from their workshop from their phone for a quick tip while working on a project. Also links open in the same window as the forum and take you away from the forum if you click on a link and don't specify that you would like it to open in a new tab or window. This can be annoying for people who are not used to tabbed browsing. I would like to have that changed as well.
I am always taking requests of ways to improve the forum website and hope to be able to implement everything that is helpful to all the users.
I would also like to thank all the people who have donated in the past. Thank you for helping this forum move forward and help people build great guitars. And thank you to all the people who post on the forum and provide answers for all of our questions.
Thanks,

Re: Donate Button
Sean, First Thank you very much for answering my question. I'm like the three year old kid that is always asking why, no matter how many times you answer or how sensible your answer is, thier comeback is "always" why? As I stated in my original post in this thread, I am completely ignorant to how all of this "website/forum" thing works and quite frankly I don't understand what incentive spammers, hackers, and other "would be" harmers of ye website would have to disrupt the beautiful little KGF world we live in. (and I guess that's not really important)What is important is that they are out there and they "do" want to cause us harm, so it is important to implement certain things to protect ourselves and to upgrade them as the "scum" figures out ways around them. Am I catching on so far? This forum is very important for me for several reasons, the first and obvious reason is to receive guidance on how build a guitar (I could never have gotten as far as I have without it). This forum also provides me a lot of entertainment value. If laughter is the best medicine then this website has a lot of medicinal value as we spend lots of time and effort ribbing and joking with each other in the name of harmless fun. Next I would like to thank everyone who is involved with the safety net and for what they do. I "do" plan to click the donate and throw a couple of dollars at it, but first I've got my eye on this John Hall bobble head doll...
