This is from 2010 if I am reading the article correctly, Somogyi indicates that building a guitar with a softwood back is a mistake.

nice to share information . I owe a lot to many fine luthiers that spent time helping me and people like David Nichols , Steve Kovacik , David Musselwhite and Wayne Henderson , these guys all helped me along this path . Luthiers are pretty cool people.

Yeah, I think this is the Mario that sells Lutz spruce and gives each tree off the wall names.......like Kermodie etc. Definitely not Mario Proulx.
