Sorry, I should've mentioned that he knows how to adjust the rod. the neck is flat or nearly flat, with only a tiny bit of relief.

hopefully things are getting better now. he's keeping it in the case, with silica packets, and temps are going down now also.

I would suggest 3/32" or 1/8" width Rosewood veneer strips as shims. Standard veneer is about .030" thick. The higher end Yamaha and Alverez Yari's at one time, maybe still were shipped with thin plastic shims which I do not recommend. Also if it is know that the saddle slot is shallow make sure there is not a tipping/rocking concern.
