A couple of builds by the campfire

Post by jread »

Just spent a week in the Rocky Mountains outside of Boulder. Here’s a quick video my latest build, the 000 being played along with one of my 1st guitars (0-cutaway) by my singer songwriter friends Kort McCumber and James Moors by our camp fire. This is why I build. Enjoy.

The guitars are almost exactly 2 years apart.

Here's me with my camping guitar, a parlor-size one I call "Fish Wrap." (John Hall might know why.)

The two best pastimes combined, staring at a campfire and playing beautiful guitars! The OOO and cutaway O sound incredible even through the computer speakers, and now I have an interest in parlor guitars!

Holy crap! Everything about this video is amazing. The song is beautiful, the guitars sound great. And the guitars themselves, they are so clean and elegant looking.

The whole scene is so full of romance. I would have loved to be amongst good friends, with a warm fire, a nice cool breeze on my back, and a cold beer in my hands just enjoying the good music and awesome guitars.

I don't know how elated I would be if I had good friends play my guitars and they sounded awesome. Moments like these are what you dream about when you get into this hobby.

Thanks so much. This hit the nail on the head of why I build guitars. These two guys are great friends and are the reason I'm building in the 1st place. I gave my 1st two builds to them and they have toured the world playing them for 4 years now and those builds are holding together and sounding better every year. They are great songwriters and musicians and I'm extremely lucky to get to see them enjoy my builds.

Here's a little bonus video. Same song last month on my latest build, a rosewood/spruce Dred. This time with a bit more "cheer!" What a great moment!
