I think the font color is dependent upon your browser. Chrome shows white font. IE 8 shows white font. Firefox shows dark font.
Sean, could you help out with the font issue?

Go to User Control Panel - Board Preferences and make certain your Board Style is Woodtones2

Then try reloading the page pressing ctrl + shift + r.
