Thanks David,
From all of your tests, this is African Blackwood. It is very heavy, it has a tap sound the is almost like glass. Also wiping with DA it all gets black. I am planning on using it for a classical guitar down the road.

Re: African Blackwood B&S
I am anxious to see your classical guitar built from the set that you showed. I really want to see it under some finish. I have done a few small projects with Blackwood but the finish that I applied was a varnish/oil/turpintine concoction that was cured, buffed with OOOO steel wool and polished with wax and it ends up being more on the satin side than the high gloss that we usually use on guitars. So, unless you take a 2 or 3 year hiatus from building guitars I'm sure you will use your Blackwood set before I get to mine. I will be looking for some helpful hints as well as any problems that you encounter, I'll let you do the leg work and then I will ride your coat tails (I'm a real nice kind of guy like that, LOL).
