I did not know coffee until a good friend of mine took me one day to a Peet's coffee in Berkeley. We got the cuppa, sat outside under the old elm trees that shaded the spot, a warm day but a cool breeze whispering by, and I took my first sip of real coffee while watching the all-girls college next door to Peet's, a giggle of girls playing tennis. (You've heard of a flock of geese, right?:-)) I said out loud "My G**" and my buddy thought I was talking about the girls, since I was looking that direction. Duh. And pleasant as that sight was, I really thought someone had given me something other than coffee. So good. Instant addiction and a bit of anger at a world that had withheld this from me for 30 years.
I weep for you, Illinois. Or was it Indiana? Heck, I'll weep for all the states starting in "I" :-)

LMAO you guys crack me up! I used to love coffee, but shortly after college, I stared doubling over in pain every time I had it. After a couple of years, Coke, decaf, and other drinks did the same. I think its a combination of the caffiene and the acid. Thank god I don't have a problem with beer or wine, don't know what I'd do.

Anyway, I am already not much of a sleeper. Still a 2-3 am kind of guy. If I had some real joe, I'd be up for a week! I do envy you coffee drinkers...there's nothin like that first cup if you got a good blend and a good coffee maker. The shiznit they serve at the office doesn't count. My office or yours.

So what kind/brand coffee do you drink?

A few years back I went on a search to find the best bang for the buck coffee. The winner was Folgers 100% Columbian Med/Dark Roast.

Medium roast isn't enough and dark roast tastes burnt (to me). Been drinking this coffee since. Oh, the other criteria was that the coffee must be ground.......I don't mind grinding coffee in the evening but I don't want to mess with it before work in the mornings.

My Brother in Law and Sister had a coffee bar. He has a roaster and we make a blend of Kona and High Altitude Kenyan. That can jump start you and it makes a great espresso
