Birch Repair complete
1st practice project ready for finishing
New Birch back and top from RC Tonewoods on this Stella Harmony repair project. John at Blues Creek glued them for me as I hadn't learned how yet but have that bit down now.
Neck is not glued on. Original sides, blocks, and braces. New celluloid, ivoriod binding. Thought I should post now after binding and before finishing in case I ruin it. I have a rather large pile of stained scrap wood tests building up on the bench. Thinking of minwax pre-conditioner, stain, then shellac sealer, then tru-oil buffed to satin but still learning about all that.
I have original floating bridge, nut, tailpiece, and tuners but the tuners are going are going to be replaced.

Re: Birch Repair complete
Birch can be hard to stain evenly. I use a wood conditioner, which allows for even staining. You can find it at Home Depot. I think it's made by Minwax.

BTW, it's beautiful. It'll sound great. You won't ruin it, trust me.
