Starting out the new year right I hope

Post by Bob Gleason »

Shipping out a new guitar tomorrow, redwood top, Naio back and sides, and a couple of ukes. Hoping to make a few more guitars this year than last year. Gettin' older, no time to waste!

Thanks John. That's what I'm hoping the new owner thinks!

Awesome Bob. What is the fretboard, bridge and headstock wood? Really cool.
Is that coming to my house? :)

Kevin- The binding, fretboard, bridge, and backstrap on the headstock are a local wood, Pheasant Wood. Named that way because of the feathery look when you cut it slightly off the quarter. The Naio B/S are a native high elevation wood also called False Sandlewood. Wonderful to work with, but seldom grows large enough for guitar use. Sorry, I don't think the UPS guy is headed your direction. Have a great 2019!

Bob, I have used Pheasant wood in the past for knife handles, like over 20 years ago when it was more available and not so $$$. Loved the look. I came across a small scrap piece just the other day as I was cleaning out some scrap wood boxes.
Anyway, beautiful guitar, the OTHER GUY will love it I'm sure. :)
Have a great 2019 on the Island.
