Bridge Slot Routing Jig
I'm building a Bridge Slot Routing Jig similar to the StewMac one.
First project where I will use both my Laser Cutter and CNC router!!!
Does anyone have this jig? I'm wondering how the 1/4 20 studs are secured into the base.
I see a couple of ways I could do it:
1. Use threaded rod and thread the base
2. Use a 1/4 20 bolt and relieve the base to accept the head (possible chance of scratching the guitar top when using the jig)
Any thoughts out there?
Derek

Well it took a bit of doing, but I'm happy with the results.
Did it all on the laser cutter with some post ops at the drill press and router table.
Fits well on everything from a Jumbo to an OM.
I'm using a dremel with the SM attachment so I created a plate for it to match to the jig.

Does it fit on a 00-14? What is the window on the tail end for? If you supply John (tippie53) with some let us know.lyricalgeek wrote:...Fits well on everything from a Jumbo to an OM.....

Re: Bridge Slot Routing Jig
If you send me the dimensions from the bottom of the sound hole to the front of the bridge and from the rear of the bridge to the tail of the guitar I can tell you if it will fit an 00-14. I may scale the current design a little anyway to make it fit smaller guitars a little better without so much hanging off the body.
The bottom "window" is actually a plate that you can bump up against the router guide. If your bit is smaller than the width of your saddle slot you can carve the leading edge of the slot then move the plate back the distance using a feeler gauge. Then you can back the router guide up against it and it will keep the alignment correct while allowing you to carve a wider slot.

Re: Bridge Slot Routing Jig
this will fit
you can clamp at the sound hole and along the rims if you have to but it looks like it will hit the tail block fine

Re: Bridge Slot Routing Jig
Are you making these for sale? If so, I'd be interested in one. But, I'd be using my Ridgid router. I dont have my stewmac dremel attachment anymore.

Re: Bridge Slot Routing Jig
I have materials to build a couple if there is interest.
They would be $100 + shipping.
I would include a base to fit the Stew Mac dremel base.
I can make additional/different bases if I can get dimensions from whomever requests the different base.
