How to test a silicone heating blanket

Post by Cbstark46143 »

My heating blanket ....from John Hall......is at least ten years old.
It doesn’t seem to heat as quickly or get at hot as it did when new.
It hasn’t been used a great deal...15-20 times, max.

Do they weaken with age?
Can I test it with an ohm meter?
Your thoughts?

If your not careful and allow air spaces you can burn out some elements but there is also an adjustment on the controller.
You should be about to get to 400F in about 6 min or so with areas within 20F It is not uncommon when bending to see differences in temp with the amount of water and thermal load on the blanket. feel free to call me

I have had blankets form hot spots and have heard from others that they can form cold spots. When I looked at your pictures in the other post I wondered if the blanket was cold right where the wood broke. That portion of the curve almost bends itself from the weight of the slats and the blanket. it was surprising to see the break there.
