You're right. Cut out some waxed paper to use under the clamps. I use wax paper with all of my gluing. Poke a small hole in a square piece of packing tape and lower it over the screw and stick it to the cork, trim the excess. Duplicate on the other head. Wax the threads. Robert's your mother's brother.
