I've started using a fine spyderco ceramic stone, followed by 4 grades of 3M micro abrasive film. I have the bald spot on my forearm to prove that my chisels and plane iron on my 6" plane are scary sharp. I still have to work on my other 3 planes. I use the Alisam sharpening sled guide. Also, since using this system, my chisels are maintaining their edge.
