Tuners

Post by SKBarbour »

Not having one of those fancy I phones, I was wondering what might be an afforable tuner for setting intonation. By affordable I mean $100.00 and under(preferably under). I was looking at the peterson clip on model that stew mac sells for about $70.00. Ya think that might be acceptable? what do you other amateur builders use with success?

Korg has some decent inexpensive tuners...

I have an older version of the Korg GA-40 (its the GA-30) as well as the GT-3. Both work well for 10-20 bucks.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

I like the snarks. I have a conn strobe tuner and the snark hangs with it . With digital electronics today's tuners are pretty accurate. The weak link in all the tuners were picking up the 6th string .
The Snarks pick them up easy and quickly . Also the apps on today's phones are remarkable.

I have a Korg...$15. Of course you still have to tune the guitar to itself when you are done with the tuner.

I bought $100+ worth of those things and wasn't happy until I bought my what, $12 Snark. The best for less as far as I'm concerned.

I like the snark so much I have them on the site. There are 2 of the ,red and blue the blue one is for guitars, and the red one can do all stringed instruments . I can't tell you have many intellitouches and other "Hi end" tuners , not work as well as the snarks

Thanks to all. I currently use a Korg GA 1. Works fairly well to tune but I wasn't sure how accurate it might be for setting intonation. It would probably work fine but I think I may try a snark when the oppurtunity arises.
