Extra hands for neck fitting

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but it sure made life easier. Trying to hold a mostly-finished neck up to the body on my build number 3, lay the fingerboard on top, and place a straightedge on top of it all to check the height at the bridge location, was more than a little tricky. I could have put the neck bolts in, but wanted to make sure I was on the right track first. Then I remembered the strap clamp we sometimes use in picture framing. It holds the neck snugly for fitting, but with a little wiggle room for adjustments. Sliding the strap up a little to where the heel is thicker makes it a little tighter without having to cinch it more.. The good news is that the fingerboard aligns perfectly, so I can go ahead and final-fit the neck-body joint. Bruce Whittington.
