Small Drill Bit Depth Stops

I’m probably the only one who ever worries about drilling through a headstock when installing tuners. I’ve never had it happen, but have come close. Bits can easily slip, and at 71, my faculties can slip a bit too.I’ve also had similar worries when drilling other holes that must have a specific depth. Stew-Mac sells a set of bits with little plastic depth stops, but the stops wear out almost immediately. Drill bits can be taped to show a stopping depth, but small bits are hard to tape. I use heat shrink tubing to create a depth marker. Easy to install and easy to slice off with a razor. Black is the most common color of tubing, but can be a little hard to see.
