Article: Adding pigments to epoxy - West System

Post by Kbore »

Great quick article by West, mfgs of epoxy. They tested 5 different pigments including dry water based dye. In summary, all of the pigments tested worked and did not change the epoxy performance. Since I have abundant water based dyes I can use them with confidence to dye epoxy forr inlays.
Bruce organizes the pigmented epoxy samples by type and color. The products tested:
Mini-Craft of Florida polyester pigment-black, white, yellow, orange.
One-Shot Lettering Enamel-black, red, blue.
Ronan Japan Colors-black, white, Van Dyke brown.
Dry Temp powdered tempera (water- based)-black, orange.
W.D. Lockwood aniline dyes (dry water-based, dry alcohol-based, alcohol based).
Rit liquid dye -red.
WEST SYSTEM 105/206 with 423 Graphite, 501 White, 503 Grey.
WEST SYSTEM 105/206 (no pigment) as a control sample.
