I cut the neck scarf joint on the current project today and wanted to say how appreciative I am about John's suggestion to raise the table saw blade into the neck blank instead of making some kind of sled to push the blank thru the blade. Works great! I used a Rockler taper jig clamped to the fence to hold the neck blank against. It took several fine tuning adjustments of the blade angle but in the end it will probably need no planeing. I like it.

Doesn't it feel so worthwhile to get that joint cut well? That cut will be in sight forever. Thanks for sharing the warmth of seeing something turn out just right.
