Completed kit

Post by jread »

1st build complete!. Blues Creek Guitars 12 fret D-18 style kit.

It may be cliche but I was genuinely surprised at how great the guitar sounds. It's a boomer that sounds way better than I could have hoped. Great kit. The mahogany and a sitka grain popped under my 1st go at French polishing shellac.

Thanks kindly to everyone's advice on the forum and John and Diane for several timely saves and detailed advice. You guys are great teachers. John's video's were valuable.

This should be a link to a photo series of the various steps along the way.

Very clean binding and purfling. Very nice finishing job. You say it is your first guitar but it looks like you re building 3 at one time - can we see the others?

Thanks for noting the binding! That phase was a huge learning curve. I scraped through the binding and had to route one side off. I did get practice on the Stella 1st by adding similar binding.

I have been working 3 projects. :D I've made a few posts on both of these but here are the full photo series for each. I'll post the D-28 style project again when I get going on the neck which I've decided to make from a blank instead of getting the rough cut ones online.
