been hard at work teaching and completing a commission. The commision is using Bruce Petros's purflex . It is inteterseting . This guitar will have a celtic theme.
Pat Pope is making a OM 18 ad you can see by the pics it is coming out well.

John,
That's going to be a beautiful guitar. Is the top cedar or cooked (Maillard-style) spruce? The three-piece back is really striking.

finished up the purfex I used the suggest epoxy and it is curing . I can sand in the morning to get ready for finish . I used a heat lamp to hold the epoxy at about 85 degrees. This sped up the cure time .

Good idea to put the epoxy in a squeeze bottle.

I found that sanding the epoxy tended to embed black dust into the surrounding wood -- especially the spruce top -- and make it look dirty. A chisel, block plane, or scraper produced shavings that did not embed.

also what I didn't tell you was that I sprayed 2 coats of lacquer on the top and back to avoid the dust contamination.
Also be very careful as you can sand through this easy

Yes! I managed to do that with the Purflex rosette on my 2nd guitar build. The actual pattern of the Purlfex is only 0.040" thick, I think.

It looks great. I've not used purflex yet. I like the look.
