Hey guys, I've pretty much fallen off of the face of the earth in terms of guitars and especially this forum in the past couple years. I was going through some old videos and things and came across a video I recorded (on my iphone) of a student guitar that was built in a guitar class I had ran and taught in Atlanta 3 years ago. At the time, this video didn't really strike me as anything spectacular or really share worthy, especially because of the fact that the quality of audio does it no justice. I really recorded the video to show friends and family on social media at the time.

This is the first time I had seen it in two years or so and I was impressed. Visually my brain had forgotten how incredible that guitar looked. Again, video doesn't do it much justice, but those woods were superb. Those were all woods from me collection that at the time I had been lucky enough to get large billets to get several sets of. However, the impressive part is that it was built by a first timer. Naturally, being a class/workshop, I did oversee the build, but that hardly takes away from the fact that someone that spends their days behind a computer professionally built an amazing instrument.

I'm not certain the link is going to work, but I wanted to link it here and give it a go. I started on this forum and have nothing but thanks for Bill Cory for starting it and John Hall now for taking it over and keeping it going. I stumbled across this site nearly 10 years ago during a late night google search which led to me to build my first acoustic guitar at the age of 16, with no skills, no tools, and no money. The wealth of knowledge here is great, and it's unique in that it's a group of peers and beginners here, so no pretentious season pros in here (they exist in the world, trolling on forums from time to time).

So after that drug on tangent I went on there, I wanted to share this video. This is a testimony for the abilities of a beginner. This is encouragement from me to any of you newbies out there. Dive in and give it a go. Worst thing that's going to happy is that you're going to build a shitty guitar that you can fix later, and it will be the most important guitar you own.

Huge shout out for John Hall. Truly an incredible individual. He's spent some time on the phone with me in the past helping me through tricky builds and nerve racking vintage repairs. Last one was a 60's Gibson Dove back removal, which for the record John, turned out great, I forgot to check back in on that turn out.

Anyways, I made this one long because I won't be popping in as much as I used to and had some things I wanted to say.

Here's the video:

I miss your posts! Nice looking guitar from a student. It says a lot about how your skill grew.

Sorry I didn't see the comments. For some reason, despite clicking the "notify me" box, I didn't get updates. Just happened to pop in.

Here's a Google drive link. This should work, and continue to work.

Hey Dan. I remember you were this young kid wanting to build your first guitar and then you went to Luthier school. Congrats on your accomplishments. I was an OLD guy just doing my first AND new to the forum about the same time. Hope you can be around some.
