Beautiful work Chuck. What did you use for the binding and backstrip? Nice contrast. Any issues with the Purple Heart bleeding through to the trim?

The binding and backstrip are some cherry I got from the local lumber yard. No problems with the purpleheart bleeding. Much easier to deal with than rosewood as far as bleeding of pigment.

Timely answer. I'm building my first, rosewood with curly maple binding. Any advice to save me mistakes in finishing down the road?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: #5 Purple Heart and alpine OM
Well that is a coincidence. The one I'm finishing now is panama rosewood with curly maple binding. The alcohol in the shellac I seal the wood with seems to want to leach pigment from the rosewood. I found that cleaning off sanding dust very well and the spraying the shellac in very thin coats helped to not drag the pigment onto the light wood. The tru oil I use to finish doesn't seem to cause problems.
