Just set up the Fuji Semi Pro 2 sprayer. The turbine is loud so I mounted it outside the booth. The plug is inside. Will show the details soon. Made a small mixing counter. Was going to make a curing cabinet but I think the room vents easy enough and heats well. Will try some shelves with the floor VOC vent. I will keep you posted . I opened an account with
Mohawk and will try some other finishes. I have water borne Emtec 9003 and will soon try pre catalyzed varnish. I will keep you posted

booth is finished. I have a mixing area tool area containers and the resting bench. I am able to spray 3 guitars at one time
The turbine is outside the booth for noise control and the manufacture wants it 20 feet from the spray or wall separated. Kills 2 birds with one stone. I an pleased with the light and air flow. I have also added a small 30 pint dehumidfier and 600 btu ac unit.
they are in the main room.

I started level sanding and buffing on the first guitar I sprayed in the booth.
Happy with the result .
After the initial spray I level sanded. Then I needed to add a few coats. So my process was like this

Mix ratio
60% lacquer ( mohawk )
thinner retarder mix 50 50 . that I blended to mix 60/40 and use a viscosity cup to know what
the viscosity is . Use the manufactures recommendations.

I am using a fuji semi pro 2 . So you may have to use something different for your gun. Experiment to find your
best result.

I allowed about 10 days cure time. You know your ok when you can sand and not get pilling up on the sand paper.
I have sanding blocks that I make from plywood and foam padding.
I start with 600 to get 1/2 way through the unevenness , then 800 1200 1500 then I use micro mesh 1500 2400 3600 and buff and polish with mazerna buffing paste and dommet and flannel wheels

John, which gun would you recommend for an existing compressor? I have a 20 gal. porter cable (link below for specs).

CFM @ 40 PSI = 6.2
CFM @ 90 PSI = 5.3

I suggest a good water separator
get a decent hvlp gun
I have one from HF that actually does a great job this one has different nozzles and needles for different material

You told me about the water separator, so Frank put a good one on the compressor. I also have a valve to drain it easily, which I do daily when I turn it off. I thank you for the information. This is the compressor you recommended a few years ago, and it's been a very good compressor.

Thanks for the spray gun information. I've put it in my Amazon cart!
