this is a very nice finish. You need a buffer and a rag this was not difficult and for a hobby building will make a good finish
I did seal fill and stain then seal before starting the process took less than a week

John,
When would you use this technique compared to your nitro guy? Do you feel it is good enough for custom building? Hobby finishing standards might be a bit lower (or in my case significantly so).

I think with a bit of practice it can be professional finish I am very happy with this . The key is with a little patience it is a low tech finish that gives a great result. I won't set it as high as a nitro finish yet but lets face it, a well played guitar will look worn and this finish will make a beginner guitar look nice.

Looks like it could work

Is that a decal on the headstock,or an inlay?

Very nice! I finished one guitar with MinWax satin wipe on. The results were ok, but nothing like that.

I'm trying to switch to this finish because the nitro off gasses for so long a time, and my wife and daughter are sensitive to it for far longer than I can even smell it. In order to use it I have to hang the instrument in an unheated shed for at least 6 weeks to 2 months before they can tolerate it in the home. That is not working for me anymore.
You have given me hope I can get this finish to a level I would be satisfied with.

the trick to this finish is most likely the buffing wheels I also use but the wipe on gave me surprising results. I am more than pleased

A careful craftsman exercising his skills can make just about anything look good. Something for us to understand, it's not what we use, but how we use it.

Thanks, John.
