HVLP sprayer

I am looking at upgrading my Rockler HVLP spray system.

The only controls on it are the material flow and the spray pattern.

Does anyone use an HVLP system that enable you to control air flow?

But one that will not break the bank so to speak.

Wouldn't it be easy enough to add a regulator to your tank? You could put a regulator in the hose that allows you to adjust psi before even hitting the gun.

Never considered that.

Basically it is just a rubber air hose coming from the sprayer that just sticks into the back of the gun.

Which is better, a gravity feed system or a cup system?

I have narrowed my search down to a Fuji system but was wondering what the advantages or disadvantages would be for either?

Gravity feed is generally easier to clean, often lighter weight and works better is some positions. Cup feed will often have higher material capacities and be less fatiguing to use with large amounts of fluid and on large surfaces.

I wanted to update you guys on the the HVLP system I got.

It was the Fuji Mighty Mite 3.

The difference between this and my Rockler unit is unbelievable.

I will be the first to tell you I am definitely no pro at this. It took a couple of miniutes to get the mix correct and the flow right but the result was awesome. The lacquer atomizes so much finer and flows so much better. Being able to adjust the air flow is also nice.

I had always had an issue with a dry bumpy finish before. The surface now is very smooth and I cannot wait to see hom much easier wet sanding will be.

I wish I had bought this ten guitars ago!!
