Re: the end is in sight...
So I missed a drip on coat #2 but I'm not sure what the next action should be.
1. sand the drips after each coat, if there are any.
2. build up the finish and knock down whatever drips have formed after several coats (3-5?)
thanks guys. still looking nice and shiny.

Sure looks great right now Darren! What kind of reducer are you using? The Rockhard is an interesting finish. I don't think I could apply it decently by hand. Some folks that used Rockhard have now switched to Epiphanes varnish and love it. That finish is also interesting.

Hi Darren, that finish looks amazing. Does the Rockhard burn in at all?

Re: the end is in sight...
Daryl,
I've heard the Rockhard Varnish can only be used with their own reducer, so that is what I'm using. We've probably read most of the same reports - it sounds like people love Rockhard but hate applying it. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment...
Ken, the acetone in the mix helps burn in, I guess. I was able to knock down a couple drips with a razor, scuff the area with some 0000, and apply another coat without being able to see the repaired area. We'll see, after it cures and I go nuts with the buffing compound, if those areas are visible or not.

Really looking great Darren, when you say 65-35-5% what amounts are you mixing at any given time? 8oz? 4oz? or can you say mix a pint and and hold it or is the shelf life limited mixed ?
Thanks, Ray
Thanks, Ray

Re: the end is in sight...
Ray,
I mixed up 200ml batch and have got 4 coats on, and easily could do 6 more, I'm not even half way through it. The question about shelf life is one I don't have the answer for. My wife (the artist) says she's kept mixed/reduced varnish for years, but I'm not sure what effects the acetone would have in the mix long term. So I basically mixed up enough to get through this one body...
