How Long Until You Have to Finish

How long can you keep an unfinished guitar in a shop at a constant humidity? (Around 45%)

I doubt that there's a limit. Just keep it covered and clean. Also, I'd final sand to activate the surface when you finally get around to finishing. Wood surface oxidizes over time and could possibly affect finish adhesion.

Sean, given my slow pace, mine sit around for months! This last one was ready for finish about three months ago, but due to summer activities combined with high heat and humidity, the guitar sat in the basement until a couple of weeks ago. Just watch where you store the guitar. I had mine sitting on a nice stand that had a couple of cork lined supports. When I finally got to spraying, the body, where it had been resting on the cork, absorbed something from the cork and didn't accept finish. I had to sand the finish back in those two areas and expose some fresh wood for the waterbased lacquer to stick.
