John, I also did something like that with the zpoxy and KTM-9. Doolin recommends cleaning your gun with water, then putting denatured alcohol in the cup and running a little thru the nozzle. He says to leave the alcohol in and shoot a mist on the previous coat, then dump it out and put the KTM-9 in. The alcohol will make the previous coat (or the epoxy) soften slightly and the next coat of waterborn will adhere better.

As you probably know, waterborn does not melt into previous coats like nitro and can cause witness lines - the alcohol trick seems to help that a lot.
