Mark, your guitar looks great. I have had similar "fracturing" of the nitro in this area where the heel meets the body. I believe the cause is a very minor high spot in the fit in my case, and as the surfaces come together the uneven force cracks the lacquer. I was able to sand it down to the fracture, and then drop fill the area, finishing it again with a razor blade scraper, etc.

Thanks for the input folks … I"m very happy with my first attempt at a guitar. Just can't wait to start the next one.
I believe the gap to be too big to drop fill so I'm going to try the wax pencils tonight - I'll let you know how it goes.
