I use a cotton ball wrapped in a square of T shirt. I hold it with a spring clamp and just wipe it on. It does take some practice. You let the first coat dry 20 min. and do it again, let it dry overnight and sand back. I have to tell you I was surprised because it turned out so well this time. I believe that the key is sanding it back to 12000 grit with the 3m micro cloths. after you do this 2 or 3 times the wood is almost buffed by the 12000 grit cloth. Then use the same technique( cotton ball and T shirt) and wipe on a single coat of Minwax wipe on Poly.

I was looking for a way to finish without pore fill or Spraying. It works for me. This doesn't mean it is the best way just my way.

What do you use to drop fill if necessary with this method?
