the area under the bridge was actually ok. Once the plate was off I closed up the cracks

Beautiful and impressive!

Here's a quick newby question on repairing such an instrument. I replaced a top on existing sides but can't imagine taking a top off then trying to get it back on without gaps. I don't need a lot of details but do you basically just remove it carefully without damaging the edge and then glue it back in? Perhaps clamping a bit differently to squeeze in the sides vs just pushing down from the top (go-deck?)

So cool to have that 000 making music again.

edit - got your article. Thanks! The answer was that you just aligned and taped it on w/ the binding off. Of course! haha.

You make it look easy, but I doubt it was. It must be very exciting to see the innards of vintage Martins up close and personal. How does a guitar that was this destroyed sound after repair?

this about the 10th smashed guitar I put back together.
This thing sound so good. I would say in the top 10 of the guitars I had in my hands.

you could tell it was well played from the wear it had on it.

it will get more the owner is loving it

It seems that the ugliest and most damaged guitars have the best sound.
