another old Martin repair

this one is a challenge as the heel joint failed The Tenon on the heel had to be redone. It was a tricky repair. I hope you can see how I figured out the angles to refit this joint. Lost of trial and error . I clamped this using a fret board block to hold all the parts straight. As you can see all the little pieces that I used to fit angles.

Was the piece that failed, originally a separate piece from the neck, or did you cut it to effect repair?

the piece that failed was the miter joint itself. I had to steam the original lock tenon out. Then make a new one.

Wow, great videos! The neck joint was quite a piece of Civil War Era work. I always wonder if those really old Martins were played by soldiers during the Civil War. I suppose I'd have a joint failure if I was over 150 years old. LOL The inlay work on Pearlzilla is beautiful. I'm hoping to reach that level of inlaying.
