Hello Tippie (John) I have an old Goyer thought to have been made around 65-70 yrs ago in Switzerland .My question was the glue at that time fish glue and can the top be reasonably removed with minor wood sheering or lifting? I also wanted to ask you if you have ever heard of the top ( southern brazil cedar ? ) showing all! the bracing on the top clearly enough to trace? What could of caused it to happen and guesses. Im going to replace it I think.

Re: Removing fish glued top
At that time it may have been Hot Hide Glue or fish. My money would be on the HHG.
It is not uncommon for that to happen and you can see the braces on the top. 65 years of pull will do that.
If the guitar is not cracked and sounds OK I would let it alone. Reset the neck if need be and go from there.
If you want to replace the top, pull the neck and start at the neck block. A little heat and a thin, flexy spatula will help you .
