Need guidance for bridge reglue project

Post by jpbpe »

The bridge is lifting on my 2001 Larrivee Parlour guitar. I would like to do the repair myself. Is there any guidance for this procedure posted here or elsewhere? Thanks in advance...jim

There is only one way to do this right and that is to remove and reglue the bridge.

Thanks John, that is precisely the procedure for which I am seeking guidance. I have access to tools but I have not done this before. First question is how do I safely remove the bridge? Can I use heat?...jim

Yes, heat would be good. I use an old clothes iron. I also have heat shields that I made from cardboard wrapped in foil that I place around the bridge to protect the surrounding wood and finish. Most glues will start to release at about 180 degrees.
You never know what you are capable of until you actually try....

Have you contacted Larivee to see if it is covered under warranty? Having them fix it would help retain value, but take a little waiting time.

Thanks folks. I'm not the original owner but I'll ask anyway.
