I have a conversion we are doing in a class this week. I have heard of it but this is the first time I had to deal with a split neck block. There was some poor work done on this before we started. There was a screw that was in the side next to the neck and I suspect that may have helped to split it. Regardless here are some pics on how I got it out. I first drilled a few holes to help steam the block . We also had a crack in the side so we taped that to help stabilize it while working on the block. Steam helped some but in the end I used an iron and heated from the out side. Knowing we are doing a refin I used any access I could. We are also replacing the back strip so I could use that area for holes. Took about 45 min but we managed to get it out and clean up the area, I did cut off the front of the original block and glued it to the replacement.

I will notify Martin of the neck block repair for the q list.
