Is that glue on this old Alvarez?

Hello All,

I have been working on my own Kit guitar but saw this old Alvarez in a thrift shop the other day. I figured it would be a beautiful guitar to keep around as I build my Kit (It will be an upgrade from my current rig).

Please take a look at the photos attached, and help me figure out why there is some sort of glue or finish or something on it. Was this just a sloppy Neck Reset from the previous repair job? It is an old guitar and I'm sure it's had some work done to it.

Any opinions on here?

As always, the knowledge and opinions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Looks typical . I have done a few neck resets on Alverez guitars. The necks are finished on the body . The area where the neck meets the body , the finish will never be there and that is most of what you are seeing.
Gibson also finishes the the body and neck together.

Thank you, John. I figured it was a simple explanation. I can't wait to play it after re-gluing the bridge.

Does it lessen the value of the instrument at all?
