Prior to building my first guitar I had a lot of self-taught carpentry and machine shop experience. When I started bui9ldijg a guitar, I found myself making assumptions about how to do something, based on my previous experience....and discovering that quite often I would be wrong. That's not to say my carpentry and machine shop skills were of no use -- but they did need to be applied in new ways.
Just something to be aware of.
Don't hesitate to ask questions. I have done nearly every dumb thing possible and if I can answer a question it gives me a reason to think that perhaps I'm not totally stupid after all.
