I live in Maine. posting.php?mode=post&f=51#
I've wanted to build a guitar for years, but never quite managed to actually get started. A few years ago I met luthier Carter RUff, the man behind Subterranean Music Works http://www.submusicworks.com in Bath, Maine. In what may have been a weak moment he agreed to teach me to build a guitar. After he agreed to do it, I began to have doubts and decided a warm-up project might be advisable. I built a mountain dulcimer. It came out quite well.
I'll describe the guitar build under a more appropriate topic.
I've done machine shop work as a hobby for years, but complex woodworking is something new for me. I do have a lot of experience with hand tools, which helps. My grandmother would describe my woodworking skill as "a good barn carpenter." My level of woodworking is getting upgraded considerably!

Welcome. Nice looking dulcimer.
You never know what you are capable of until you actually try....
