Howdy from College Station, Texas.
About 30 years ago I would visit with Bob Mattingly (He was the owner of World of Strings in Long Beach, California.) while he was building his instruments. Primarily classical guitars. He built 3 steel stringed guitars, I have one of them. I was always fascinated by his talent and knowledge of the wood and how shape it.
My wife surprised me with a mandolin kit from StewMac this past Christmas. It is the campfire model, I have made some modifications to the kit, following some of what I observed from Bob. I am surprised at what I remembered. I am enjoying my time with wood, and am pondering building some instruments in the future.
Thank you,
IceRider
