yes I start in the rim with this video

this starts that process. The neck angle is set up in the rim once it is set in the rim

I have seen your video, but I don't use dishes. And I am aware of other methods to establish the flat. I would like to see a more thorough discussion of the geometry and then a discussion of other potential methods. Maybe a couple of drawings on a white board, or a cut-away version showing how the neck angle and the flat part of the top interact. Thanks john

I'd be interested in your non-dish methods. I have one dish and it's a 20' and I wish I hadn't bought it.

I don't use a dish or a go-bar deck. Here is a sequence showing using radius beams to shape to the faces of the rim. There is a bolt with a nut and a washer in the middle and the beam rides on that to make a circle, then for the top, I use the flat side to drop the area at the neck for proper geometry. I do this twice - first before lining to get things where I want them, then after lining to finish up

Skip a couple and you can see how I clamp the plates without a go bar deck

This new site is a little weird - I had 2 URL's in my first response and it told me it would not send the post because there was a maximum of 2 URL's. Here's the second one

And here is a sequence shaping and gluing braces - using the radius beam to glue against, and cam clamps instead of a go-bar deck. Start here and go about a dozen to the right to see everything

Thank you Ed. I like your methods and will try to incorporate some into my next build.

Hey John, do you have any videos of crack repair? A while ago I picked up a beat up Gibson LG0 (one of the ones with an adjustable bridge) and it has a few top cracks. Some are really fine, others may need to be splined and cleated.

I haven't been on the forums for probably a year so I'm trying to work through the backlog of posts so if you have posted this before I apologize.
