I've been given some sinker cypress, cut 500 years ago.

What would you use for the top? I'm thinking sitka spruce.

If you have enough, why not use the Cypress for the whole body? Some species of cypress are regularly used in classical this way.

This is my all-cypress (Alaskan Yellow Cedar) steel string guitar - sounds very bright:

Your guitar is lovely Ed. But, there isn't enough wood.

I might go with some thing darker then, like cedar.

my favorite is red spruce or Carp not a cedar fan but many are. Use what you like and let us know what you ended up with. I had one one with the PRS bracing and was intrigued by it.
they use X braces and then 5 fans off the bridge plate in place of tone bars. They were 1/4 by 1/4

Thanks John. I was thinking of carpathian as well as the sitka.
