End Trim repair on new build

Post by lonecedar959 »

Hi All

While installing the end trim on this new build I was a little sloppy in removing the wood from the end. I have circles the concerned areas. I think I have two options here:

1. Use GluBoost with tint to fill it in all areas.
2. For the long area (which is .078 inches deep at most) cut a piece of mohagany and glue it in with titebond and sand/scrape down.

Since I still need to pore fill before finishing and I will be sanding down the entire guitar before hand will that be enough to take care of it instead of the above tow options? Should I wait until final sanding to do any repair?

Thanks for your assistance - again.

you have 2 choices
if you use glu boot wait till you start finish , as the fill may hide most of that. Glu boost will seal it so the stain won't look right there.
the other choice is this is a design enhancement opportunity
change the design

Thanks John

Since this guitar will be mine then I am going with the GluBoost before finish and what it looks like will be considered "early mojo".

I will do better on my next - leson learned.

Thanks

Pat

As John mentioned, do the gluboost (or just regular medium CA) AFTER you start finish. The gluboost (which is a CA) will absorb into the end grain of the side and change the color and ability to take added color.
